Nscale and Verne: Sustainable AI expansion in the Nordics

From our first site in Glomfjord to our large-scale facility as part of our joint venture with Aker ASA in Narvik, we continue to build on a strong foundation, delivering high-performance, renewable-powered compute across the region.

Today, we are proud to announce our expansion in Iceland with a 15-megawatt infrastructure deployment in partnership with Verne, one of the region’s leading providers of low-carbon, high-performance data centers. This collaboration marks a significant step in delivering sustainable AI capacity in Europe and strengthens our footprint in the region's fast-growing AI ecosystem. 

Building together with scale and sustainability

As global demand for compute accelerates, we work with partners worldwide to deliver sustainable infrastructure that meets this growth responsibly. The Nordics provide a unique and sustainable foundation combining abundant renewable energy with natural cooling to enable the next generation of AI. 

This agreement features approximately 4,600 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs for deployment across Verne’s Icelandic campus in 2026. The configuration — 85% liquid cooled and 15% air cooled – is optimised for maximum efficiency and density within Verne’s existing infrastructure.

This project represents one of Iceland’s largest liquid-cooled GPU installations, setting a high standard for sustainable, high-performance computing by reducing energy use and environmental impact. Together we bring deep technical expertise, operational excellence, and a proven record of delivering high-density, renewable-powered data centers. With Verne as our partner, we are creating a platform that aligns performance with purpose.

The new deployment will leverage Verne’s renewable-powered infrastructure and Nscale’s expertise in efficient, sovereign compute to set a new standard for energy performance and environmental impact.
