Monarch Compute Campus West Virginia, United States
Built from the ground up in Mason County, the Monarch Compute Campus will bring jobs, investment, and long-term opportunity through one of the world’s largest AI infrastructure developments, while preserving the character and values that make this community special.
Built to scale AI reliably
The Monarch Compute Campus in Mason County is set to bring the most advanced AI technology to West Virginia. Every element from power, cooling, compute, and connectivity is engineered from the ground up for AI at scale.
Developed in collaboration with NVIDIA and Caterpillar, the site is the first-ever state-certified Artificial Intelligence (AI) Microgrid in the United States. Phase 1 is engineered to host 1.35GW of AI computing capacity, with delivery targeted by early 2028. Phase 1 is just the start: Monarch is designed as a multi-phase campus, with a clear expansion path to 8GW+ as workload demand grows.
Its location in West Virginia puts customers in close proximity to major centers of AI and cloud infrastructure, delivering the low latency and operational reliability that frontier AI workloads demand.
With more than $20 billion in planned capital investment, Monarch is one of the most consequential AI infrastructure commitments in U.S. history. It is also part of Nscale's international portfolio of purpose-built AI campuses, bringing the same operational standards that underpin our European infrastructure to the United States.

Power off the public grid built for AI
The Monarch Compute Campus generates all of its own power on-site, fully independent of the public electric grid. Monarch's operations draw nothing from local utilities and will not impact local energy prices. The Campus’ cooling systems run on a closed loop, meaning no municipal drinking water is used for operations. Generators run enclosed, with mufflers, berms, and sound barriers keeping noise within the campus boundary.
Grid-independent power
All energy generated on-site, with no draw on local utilities, homes, or businesses.
No impact on electricity rates
Monarch funds 100% of its own power generation, with no impact on local ratepayers, and is guaranteed by West Virginia state law.
Zero drinking water consumption
Exclusively cooled using closed-loop systems means Monarch never draws from Mason County's drinking water supply.
Minimal noise footprint
Enclosed generators, mufflers, sound walls, and setbacks help keep noise within the campus boundary.
